Masaya Volcano Reserve and the handicraft market
If you like to see and smell an active volcan crater, the visit to the national Park of Masaya has been recommended. You can reach the border of the crater by car. There are four more craters, full of vegetation where you can see chocoyo parrots and their nests. This area is one of the 78 protected areas in Niaragua. Halfway down the road there is a museum about the origin of volcany landscape. The entrance is open again, even at night you can enter if you pay a special fee.
In the old restored market building in Masaya town is now the biggest handicraft market of Nicaragua, with ceramic, wood-art, paintings and hammocks. Thursday night, there is the folklore show "la Verbena".
